This body of work is a collection of photographs chronicling one man’s physical transformation from female to male. Sligh tackles new territory with this project as previously her work focused on social and cultural investigations rather than photographic documentation. The project found her drawing parallels between what she photographed and the history of slaves passing into freedom and light skin blacks passing as white. While chronicling Jake's surgical experiences, Sligh explores the connection between sexual identity and a person’s physicality.
